In the Hallway

I walk in the hallway and I see you.
You are that girl.

With struggles I can’t even begin to understand.
With a chip on your shoulder.

I see you trying to hide,
Escape the horrors and painful situations,
But they always come back to find you.

I see your shaking hands,
Your trembling lips,
And your anxious eyes.

You walk looking down at the floor,
Afraid for people to look you in the eye,
And see your vulnerability .

I see you pacing,
Not sure where to put yourself.

You can’t find your place of comfort and contentment.

I wish I can help you,
Hug you ,
and take all your pain away.

But that’s not possible.
I can’t do anything but smile at you.
And tell you are worth it, and trust one day you will believe that.

I can pray,
Pray that one day all your pain will be a thing of the past.

And you will emerge strong and resilient.

Know you are not alone,
You are in a hallway full of pretenders.

All of them have there pain, struggles and anxiety,
They are just wearing masks.

Each one of them is fighting a silent battle just like you.

I know God will give you the streangth to get through this challange.
But for now it’s too painful to get emotionally involved.

Know I care about you deeply,
And want nothing more than to see you happy and healthy.

I will continue to root for you, on the sidelines.
Cause I see that you can and will overcome this.
I see you.
When I walk in the hallway.
